I received this projector 3 days ago and I am very impressed with the resolution. Although it is a native 4:3 projector it does a good job of switching to 16:9. My family prefers the 4:3 aspect ratio over the 16:9, Much larger viewing area. We are viewing DVDs on 60"x80" screen, 100" diagonal. The DVI input is a must when viewing HD material. We choose this projector because there is alot of ambient light in the gameroom. The only draw back that I can tell is that is not HDCP compliant. Which means if you want to watch HD tv from your cable provider chances are you will not be able to. I am not a big HDtv person so it does not matter to me. I bought a hdtv reveiver and a hd antenna that both have dvi outputs. the DVD upconverter I bought also has DVI outputs. On the plus side, it will be easy to record HD content (using the dvi interface from my rca atsc11, or my oppu opdv971h
We love this this projector, movie night will never be the same!!

I have worked for months trying to configure this thing to work properly and finally have given up. Frequently the software cannot even find the adapter, and often when it does, the image will be poor and constantly re-tiling, making it useless. I'm not talking full-motion video: I mean even a static image. It does this frequently, notice, but not always. There's no apparent reason why it sometimes works but mostly doesn't. No, it is not my computer or wifi card, I've bought (and returned) two fancy new external wifi cards to rule that out. My tablet pc (motion m1400, 1 gig ram, 1.1 gig Pentium M) surpasses the plextor advertised requirements and has no problems connecting with other networks. It is not interference: the phenomena happens at home or work. I've spent hours playing with re-configuring it (via the ethernet port provided) with no success.

Support from Plextor was first unhelpful and then non-existent.

It is also expensive.

This is a second unit, the first of which I returned since the software couldn't connect with the adapter at all.

Not recommended!

I tried this product earlier on in the year to work in a classroom environment with a Vista tablet pc.

The promised VISTA update took forever and was delayed from April to May to June to July..... till it finally came out in October 6 months late. Tech support were no help whatsoever and did not have a clue when it would come out.

I never got web access to work properly and the refresh rates for a tablet are totally unacceptable. The students were very distracted by the 2-3 second lag in the tablet to screen transfer. The software is also not unlimited and can only be installed on 3 computers. If you have visitors coming they will not be able to use the adapter unless they have paid for the software

I switched to the Infocus Liteshow 2 which is a far superior product and also cheaper.

Benefits over the Plextor include:

Rapid refresh times for use with a tablet
Unlimited software use for PC's allowing visitors to use it
Great and easy web access via wired or wireless connection to LAN
Capability to transfer audio in addition to video
Works well with video clips
Aux VGA input that can auto override the wireless connection
Very quick and easy straightforward connection

This Plextor Adapter is a very inferior product and is not worth the money they are asking for it.

This is a small to medium theater quality projector -- idea for corporate boardroom -- even with lots of windows. The resolution (1400x1050) is impressive -AND- brightness is a delight. Features like lens-shift make for undistorted image and net workability and added PLUS. We've had it for 45 days now. Our CEO said, "I'm glad we got it!" at around $4,000 its a great value. Just a heads up, the replacement bulbs are about $525 -- average for a 4,000 lumen -- I just hope we won't need one for a couple years or so.

The 'universal' tag line means there's some adjusting to do, but it's not too complicated and the box contains every type of screw and fitting imaginable. Projector installed in a record 30 minutes!

I enjoyed using this projector for birthdays and holidays, and the neighbors always commented on how much they like it. It doesn't play music, which can annoy the neighbors, so that much was better than some other projectors. The reviewers who said it didn't last must have left it out continuously. I don't think it's meant to be left out like that. We only used it for a few (dark) hours a day for at most 2 weeks at a time. Unfortunately, someone must have thought it would be fun to steal it, and it's easy to take. Too bad, we'll miss it. I may buy it again.

I loved this when I bought it. I thought the snowflakes looked good for the price I paid. It stopped working in less than 30 days. Luckily, I was still able to return it.

I bought one of these less than a year ago and it is a pile of junk. All the screws and the lightbulb housing and the area where the wires attach are completely rusted. The projector was only outside for approximately 6 months in sunny, dry Los Angeles. Mr. Christmas customer service say that because it's outside their pathetic 90 day warranty, it's my problem. It is sold as an outdoor projector...at a minimum it should have non-rusting parts that can survive dry sunny weather. I suspect it wouldn't last a month on the East Coast.
